2. Hosting and technical access data
The website is delivered through Cloudflare Pages. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, California 94107, USA. When the website is accessed, Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection and traffic data. This may include the IP address, time and destination of the request, referrer, browser and system information, and data required to route traffic securely.
This processing serves the secure, stable, and efficient delivery of the website and protection against abusive access. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in a secure and functional website pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Cloudflare acts as a processor. Where Cloudflare processes data outside the European Economic Area, transfers are based in particular on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses as described in Cloudflare's Data Processing Addendum.
GeKoByte does not enable optional HTTP request log retention by default. Short-term technical processing by Cloudflare, particularly for security, delivery, and troubleshooting, remains unaffected.

3. Cookies, local storage, and language selection
The website itself uses no analytics or marketing cookies and uses neither Local Storage nor Session Storage. There are no user accounts, tracking, or personalized advertisements.
Cloudflare may set technically necessary cookies when enabled security features are used, for example to prevent automated or abusive access. These cookies serve only the security and delivery of the website. They are not used for advertising or analytics.
When the homepage is opened, a locally executed script reads only the preferred language provided by the browser. Non-German browsers are routed to the English version under /en/. The script does not store the value or transmit it separately. Browsers may independently include language preferences in ordinary HTTP requests; these then form part of the technical access data described in section 2.
4. Analytics and external content
The website code integrates no analytics or marketing services. Fonts, images, stylesheets, and scripts are delivered from the same domain. The website does not embed videos, social media widgets, or other third-party content.
Links to external services such as Steam are ordinary links. A connection to that provider is created only after the link is actively opened. The external provider's privacy terms apply from that point onward.
5. Contact
When you contact GeKoByte by email or through the form, the submitted information is processed to handle and answer your request. The form asks for your name (optional), email address, subject, and message. Email address, subject, and message are required so that the request can be assigned and answered. Without this information, the form cannot be submitted or the request meaningfully handled. There is no statutory obligation to provide this data.
Form submissions are received by a Cloudflare Pages Function and forwarded through Cloudflare Email Service to the support mailbox. The website does not store the contents in its own database and does not intentionally write them to application logs. Cloudflare processes the data required for transmission, abuse prevention, and delivery; section 2 additionally applies.
The support mailbox is operated by Proton AG, Route de la Galaise 32, 1228 Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva, Switzerland. Proton processes email content and related metadata on behalf of GeKoByte. The European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision for Switzerland. According to Proton, data is processed on servers in Switzerland, Germany, and Norway.
Proton Privacy Policy
Proton Data Processing Agreement
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the request concerns steps prior to entering a contract or contract-related support. For other requests, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is responding to incoming messages and communicating about GeKoByte.
Contact details and messages are generally deleted no later than twelve months after the request has been fully handled. They are deleted earlier if no longer needed. They are retained longer only where required by law or needed for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims. According to Proton, messages already deleted may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days.
6. Automated decision-making
GeKoByte does not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects, and does not perform profiling, using data processed through this website.
7. Data subject rights
Subject to the applicable legal requirements, data subjects have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. They also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, send a message to support@gekobyte.at.
The competent Austrian authority is the Austrian Data Protection Authority , Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, Austria.
